You'll be on the ground floor from day one building software and hardware to help us better understand the Earth and the people that live on it. You'll never be just a cog in a giant machine.

  • The Role

    Spiral Blue are looking for a full-time Electronics Engineer to work on our Space Edge Computers. This will involve:

    • PCB design, prototyping and manufacture
    • Designing and manufacturing high speed interfaces e.g. NVMe
    • Engagement with manufacturers and suppliers
    • Hands on assembly, soldering, installation, and testing

    We are seeking a candidate with skills in KiCad or another EDA package. Prior experience and strong hands-on electronics skills are a must. Work hours are flexible, and work from home arrangements may be made.

     

    About You

    We are looking for someone who:

    • Has enthusiasm in space and electronics
    • Is an Australian citizen (no exceptions)
    • Has 1+ years relevant experience from work or personal projects
    • Has excellent interpersonal skills and can work as part of a small team
    • Has great verbal and written communication skills

  • The successful applicant will be key in helping Spiral Blue develop onboard and autonomous satellite image preprocessing pipelines. This will involve:

    • Developing novel algorithms for autonomous geolocation, geometric correction, radiometric correction of satellite imagery
    • Review of background literature and testing previously developed algorithms

    While we insist on Python for algorithmic work, we are open to adopting new geospatial tools preferred by the successful applicant. This role carries significant potential for internal promotion as the company grows. Work hours are flexible, and work from home arrangements may be made.

    The successful applicant should:

    • Be enthusiastic about space and Earth observation
    • Be an Australian citizen (no exceptions)
    • Have 1+ years relevant experience working in Earth observation, ideally with satellite image preprocessing
    • Have excellent technical, organisational, and interpersonal skills

  • The successful applicant will be working with mechanical systems for our Space Edge Computers and other future product lines. This will involve:

    • Mechanical design and prototyping
    • Finite element analysis (structural, vibrational, thermal)
    • Engagement with manufacturers and suppliers
    • Hands on assembly, installation, and space environment testing

    We are seeking a candidate with skills in CAD (Fusion 360 preferred) and FEA (ANSYS preferred). Python skills are also desirable. Strong hands on mechanical and electronics handling skills are a must. Work hours are flexible, and work from home arrangements may be made.
